Family Trivia
  • Washington, Georgia, the hometown of Willam & Emily, was the first town in the United States to be named after George Washington.
     
  • William was only 16 years old when he left to join Company D "Stephens Home Guard," the 15th Georgia Regiment on March 1, 1862.
     
  • William, with the help of this father-in-law Henning Daniel Murden, established the W.T. Fluker Gun Smith shop in downtown Washington, Georgia in 1869.
     
  • Many of William & Emily's children were accomplished musicians playing such instruments as the violin, cello, piano, coronet & trumpet. William T. Fluker, Jr actually took his violin with him to the Civil War and returned home with it!
     
  • Only two of the six female children of William & Emily ever married & none of them bore children.
     
  • Emily gave birth to 14 children. Of these, there were two sets of twins: the first set was Richard & Robert born in 1882. The second set, her last two children, died at birth.
